DR. earl stewart, md

Earl Stewart, Jr., is an Internal Medicine Physician with Wellstar Medical Group Family and Internal Medicine practice at Vinings Jubilee in Atlanta, Georgia.  He is a 2009 alumnus of Mercer University in Macon, Georgia, where he attained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology (Cum Laude) with a pre-medical focus with minors in Chemistry and Latin.  Dr. Stewart later attended the historic Meharry Medical College’s School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee, graduating with multiple honors and commendations in May of 2013. 

He completed residency training in Categorical Internal Medicine at the Warren Alpert Medical School of the prestigious Brown University and its affiliated hospitals in Providence, Rhode Island.  Prior to joining Wellstar in March of 2020, he served as a primary care physician in private practice with Thomaston Medical Clinic, P.C., and maintained privileges at Upson Regional Medical Center, where he served on the hospital’s Quality Oversight Committee and started the largest Buprenorphine Treatment Program to combat the opioid crisis in that community and simultaneously started a Walk With A Doc chapter for Thomaston and Upson County. 

He is board-certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM), a member of the Arnold P. Gold Foundation Honor Society for Humanism in Medicine, and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (ACP).  He is founding President/CEO of the Dr. Earl Stewart, Jr., Family Foundation, and is a published poet of three books, including Precious Memories:  Reflections for Christian Living, Words for Today, and In Love, with Poetry.  He is a frequently invited lecturer, presenter, public speaker, mentor to youth groups, and medical essayist.  He is very passionate about community service and has a specific goal directed at the elimination of food deserts in economically disadvantaged communities.  His clinical interests are Cardiovascular Disease Prevention, Preventive Medicine, Spirituality in Medicine, Heart Failure Management in Primary Care, Opioid Addiction Treatment, Health Disparities Elimination, Diversity in Medicine, and End-of-Life Care.
