Everton Blair, M.S.
Everton Blair is the first person of color, the youngest-ever and the first openly gay member of the Gwinnett County Board of Education — serving 180,000 students and 1 million constituents in the largest and most diverse school system in the state of Georgia. He is the son of Jamaican immigrants and a graduate of Gwinnett County schools. A former AP Calculus teacher in Atlanta Public Schools, Everton comes to the Board with district, state and federal education policy experience - including serving as a Fellow in President Obama’s White House Initiative on Educational Excellence. In November of 2018, Everton flipped the formerly Republican seat on the school board by 31 points (R+17 to D+14) with the most votes ever cast in a Georgia school board election and a 480% increase in young voters aged 18-29.
Everton received his Bachelors in Applied Mathematics from Harvard College and his Masters in Policy, Organizations and Leadership from Stanford University.
